Description

This is a challenging high profile role to be responsible for providing insightful credit analysis, ensuring ratings accuracy and responding to investor inquiries. This opportunity involves developing an in-depth knowledge of the assigned asset class and writing thought-leading research. As part of the rating process you will manage effective interaction with investors, issuers and other relevant market participants.

Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis of credits and recommend ratings for new credits, or changes to ratings for existing credits. Usually focused on a portfolio of some complex or high profile and/or franchise credits, with no supervision. 
  • Is sought out to attend Rating Committees for their credit judgement across a variety of portfolios/sectors.
  • May act as chair at Rating Committees subject to business unit policy.
  • Authors broad industry level research.
  • Communicates with the media on industry issues, working closely with more senior colleagues.
  • Speaks at internal events.
  • Participates in team specific and/or LOB-wide projects (analytical, process design or systems).
  • Actively involved in mentoring AAs/Analysts/AVPs.
  • May provide first review of Analyst/AVP industry research.
  • Advises and counsels junior analysts on credit issues.
  • Leads issuer meetings including on-site visits and communicates professionally with investors and bankers independently, with occasional oversight/supervision.
  • May speak at  conferences or roundtable events.
  • Investor outreach focuses on issuer and broad industry level research.
  • Strategically and proactively builds investor base. 
  • Arranges and leads investor meetings.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic background with a first degree in an analytical subject. Postgraduate qualifications in Economics or Finance is advantageous.  
  • Experience in applying very strong knowledge and understanding of credit and/or macroeconomic principles via quantitative analysis and publications.
  • 5+ years’ analytical experience gained from a financial institution, asset manager or public accounting firm.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to present an argument clearly and concisely, and tailor communication to an audience.
  • Experience in managing and developing junior members of staff.
  • Proven ability to be proactive and exercise own initiative; track-record of leading and delivering analytical research and projects.
  • Ability to work effectively and contribute within a diverse team, managing own workflow and priorities to meet deadlines. 
  • Strong MS Office skills: principally Excel (including use of macros), Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong quantitative skills & financial/statistical research experience; knowledge of econometrics (eg Eviews) would be an advantage.
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is essential.
