Skills and Competencies
- 5–8 years of corporate accounting and financial reporting experience within multinational corporations or established accounting/audit firms, with strong knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards, U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and related international frameworks
- Strong understanding of statutory and tax compliance, including corporate advance tax, tax provisions, deferred tax, income tax returns, TDS, GST, and regulatory filings such as STPI, SEZ, ROC, and RBI
- Highly analytical with strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights
- Excellent organizational capabilities with proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environments, while fostering effective cross‑functional partnerships
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous process improvement and digital enablement, with fluency in written and spoken English
- Proficiency in SAP HANA, BlackLine, Power BI, Workiva, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce B. Com, M. Com, MBA in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Candidates who have cleared CA/CS/CWA Intermediate level are preferred
Responsibilities
- Execute daily accounting procedures in SAP, including review of transactions, coordination with outsourced teams, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables
- Prepare and post monthly accounting entries in line with local and Moody’s global accounting policies
- Collaborate with local and global teams (U.S., Europe, Hong Kong, etc.) to deliver reports, provide support, and address queries
- Perform GL/vendor/customer ledger scrutiny, reconciliations, and ad-hoc account analyses; identify and escalate issues promptly
- Prepare documentation and analyses for internal/external audits and serve as the main point of contact to ensure efficient audit completion
- Prepare financial statements in the Workiva reporting tool and independently manage statutory and internal audits
- Conduct monthly inter-company reconciliations, ensure timely settlements, and monitor/report overdue balances
- Support tax-related filings (TDS, GST, Service Tax, etc.) and assist with regulatory submissions such as STPI, SEZ, ROC, and RBI
- Assist in identifying and strengthening control procedures to avoid SOX deficiencies and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, MIS/MA business expansion activities, and demonstrate a strong interest in emerging technologies, especially AI.
About the team
The Moody’s Controllership team is responsible for providing senior management with accurate, timely, and comprehensive financial information that supports effective business strategy development. Its key functions include accounting and disbursements, establishing financial policies, managing taxes, overseeing consolidations, and delivering high quality financial reporting. As part of this effort, the Sr Fin Rptg & Acct Policy Accountant plays a critical role in the Controllership team by ensuring the systematic and detailed recording of all financial transactions. This information forms the foundation for informed decision making by owners, investors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. This also reflects demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use.
