Skills and Competencies
- 5–8 years of corporate accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably within multinational corporations or established accounting/audit firms, with strong knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards, U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and related international standards.
- Strong understanding of tax and statutory compliance, including corporate advance tax, tax provisions, deferred tax, income tax return filing, TDS, GST, and regulatory filings such as STPI, SEZ, ROC, and RBI.
- Highly analytical with solid problem solving abilities, capable of converting complex financial data into actionable insights while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast paced environments, combined with a collaborative mindset and strong cross functional partnership skills.
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous process improvement and digital enablement, with fluency in written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in SAP HANA, BlackLine, Power BI, Workiva, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and AI tools including agentic AI platforms (ChatGPT, Copilot).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce (B. Com.), M. Com. / MBA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Candidates who have cleared CA/CS/CWA Intermediate level are preferred.
Responsibilities
Accounting and accounting related functions
- Execute, with limited assistance, daily procedures related to accounting, reviewing daily transactions, including supporting and reviewing work of outsourced service providers, communications with different lines of business, identifying accounting changes, coordinating with other internal accounting teams, JVs and affiliates, and ensure timeliness and accuracy of deliverables in SAP.
- Prepare and enter monthly accounting entries when needed based on local and Moody’s global accounting policies. Ensure all accounting entries are adequately supported and completed in accordance with company policies.
Interact with and work across local and global teams (U.S., Europe, Hong Kong, etc.) to ensure effective delivery of reports, work products, support to regions and response to queries. - Strong desire to keep up with advancements in technology and innovations occurring across the digital, analytics and CFO ecosystems with a special focus on artificial intelligence (AI).
- Support timely execution of process initiatives and ad-hoc projects, escalating risks and issues as appropriate, to drive operational efficiencies and improved controls
GL/vendor/customer ledger scrutiny and reconciliation. Proactively performs ad-hoc account analyses and raises issues on a timely basis. - Review and prepare supporting documentation and account analyses for internal and external audits; manages audit relationships and acts as principle point of contact with respect to areas while ensuring efficiency and timeliness.
- Responsible for preparation of financial statements in WorKiva financial reporting tool and independently handling statutory and internal audit.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliation of inter-company balances. Ensure timely inter-company settlements. Monitoring and reporting of overdue inter-company account balances.
- Identify and escalate control issues or high-risk areas to drive compliance with local statutory requirements of all national and/or regional laws and regulations associated with duties and responsibilities
- Work together with Tax team to ensure all local tax filings (including TDS, GST, Service Tax, etc) are submitted to local Tax Authority before due date.
- Handling/ assisting other regulatory filings such as STPI, SEZ, ROC, and RBI.
- Assist in research and identification of control procedures and practices to ensure no significant SOX control deficiencies in the Accounting sub-function
- Support MIS and MA business expansion, due diligence, and integration work

About the team
The Moody’s Controllership team is responsible for providing senior management with accurate, timely, and comprehensive financial information that supports effective business strategy development. Its key functions include accounting and disbursements, establishing financial policies, managing taxes, overseeing consolidations, and delivering high quality financial reporting.
As part of this effort, the Sr Fin Rptg & Acct Policy Accountant plays a critical role in the Controllership team by ensuring the systematic and detailed recording of all financial transactions. This information forms the foundation for informed decision making by owners, investors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
