Skills and Competencies
- 1+ year of proven experience in data management and transformation roles, with expertise in handling and analyzing complex data sets.
- Advanced Excel skills, intermediate SQL proficiency, and experience with tools such as Alteryx and Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
- Strong experience in data cleansing, standardization, data quality reporting, and knowledge of data governance principles.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working with unstructured data to meet diverse analytical needs.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with customers and users to understand data requirements and use cases effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex concepts and themes for diverse audiences.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science or a related field is required.
Responsibilities
This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and data managers operating within Agile frameworks. Responsibilities include creating data lineage flows, designing databases and taxonomies, defining data elements and concepts for end-users, rationalizing database content, supporting data migration to a modern cloud-based infrastructure, and establishing data storage strategies. The associate will contribute to multi-year transformation projects aimed at digitizing Commercial workflows and advancing generative AI adoption. These initiatives span areas such as workflow optimization, pricing, product development, and sales, aligning directly with firm-wide strategic goals.
The Data Management & Governance Associate role will assist in defining and curating the data used across several product workflows, acting with support from data team members. Core accountabilities include:
- Investigate, analyze, and improve data governance and data quality to support digital solutions and ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in defining harmonized data requirements, data concepts, reference data, and sound data usage practices in collaboration with relevant partners.
- Partner with technology, data, and process teams to develop next-generation data structures, support data migration activities, and establish robust data governance practices.
- Identify and evaluate new and/or third-party data sources for integration into business workflows, and map end-to-end data lineage to deliver target service solutions.
- Cleanse, validate, and migrate data from legacy systems to modern infrastructure while monitoring and reporting on data quality and process performance through key performance indicators.
- Contribute to a consistent framework for governing data changes, aligning with partner teams, and driving innovative solutions, including exploring new data sources and performance metrics.
- Collaborate in Agile pods to define business data requirements, improve technology solutions, and develop data training, communication, and rollout plans for key data and technology changes.
About the team
The Commercial Data team drives data and change management for scalable digitization across critical business initiatives including data management, governance and insight. The group works collectively with stakeholders in other lines of business, Product Management, User Experience designers, developers, control functions and others to document current state processes, define critical requirements for improvement, identify and map required data elements and lead simplification initiatives. The group works in an Agile, product-centric operating model that delivers digital solutions and incremental improvements to process, data, and user tools.
