Skills and Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience working within the (re)insurance or alternative risk transfer space
  • Experience running Moody’s RMS or competitor catastrophe models
  • Previous experience with coding (e.g. SQL, R, Python) and working with large datasets required
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to tailor the communication to different levels of seniority
  • Proactive and demonstrates a high level of personal accountability
  • Strong teamwork skills and collaborative attitude
  • Problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency
  • Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use

Education

BSc or MSc or equivalent degrees in one of the following disciplines or related fields:

  • Earth / climate sciences
  • Mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, data science, computer science
  • Risk management/ insurance, actuarial science

Responsbilities

As a project lead you will help to drive a team culture where people want to stay and grow their careers. You will have the flexibility to work across any project topic from the range that the team work on, a passion for innovation and discovering new use cases for catastrophe analytics and be able to drive a project to success with the support of senior oversight. 

  • Lead project work that helps contribute towards our team targets and/ or strategic priorities of the group
  • Work in collaboration with project manager, domain experts and client relationship manager to ensure project is delivered within scope, effort estimates and agreed timelines
  • Work with domain experts (from potentially across multiple teams) to define and implement new methodologies for new and complex projects, and establish best practices across the team
  • Be responsible for the accuracy and quality of results delivered, ensuring thorough and efficient QA practices have been implemented
  • Hold project team accountable to deliver the high levels of standards that we expect from work
  • Build team capacity through exceptional teaching and coaching of the associate team
  • Work collaboratively across all required teams to support sales efforts through pre-sales, scoping and contracting or origination
  • Build relationships and drive conversations with key client stakeholders/ brokers, and more senior stakeholders within Moody’s
