Skills and Competencies

  • +6 years of relevant experience in financial services with a strong focus on credit and risk assessment, preferably covering banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and grammatically accurate reports and presentations
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse, senior, and external audiences
  • Strong executive presence, demonstrating confidence, professionalism, and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders
  • Proven initiative and sound judgment, combined with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and teamwork
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently, take ownership of analyses, and drive tasks to completion
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining high-quality output in time-sensitive and deadline-driven environments
  • Demonstrated reliability and accountability in professional responsibilities and decision-making
  • Experience with process automation and data analysis to improve analytical workflows and operational efficiency
  • Interest in exploring artificial intelligence systems, with an emphasis on responsible AI practices, ethical use, and risk management; experience designing or working with AI agents is a plus

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFA) and/or a Master’s degree are considered a plus

Responsibilities

The Analyst will be responsible for managing and analyzing a portfolio of Latin American financial institutions, supporting accurate and timely credit ratings in accordance with Moody’s methodologies.
  • Perform initial and ongoing credit analysis of banks, insurance companies, and non-bank financial institutions in Mexico and the broader Latin American region
  • Conduct detailed quantitative analysis of financial statements, regulatory metrics, economic indicators, and market data
  • Produce high-quality, in-depth research reports covering issuers, credit trends, and sector-specific developments
  • Develop clear and well-supported rating rationales and present analyses effectively at rating committees
  • Actively monitor assigned portfolios and recommend timely and appropriate rating actions
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with issuers and investors through meetings, industry engagement, and topical research
  • Stay informed on macroeconomic, regulatory, and industry developments affecting financial institutions in the region
  • Mentor and support the development of junior analysts and associates, fostering analytical rigor and professional growth
