Come join a newly formed, dynamic team responsible for topics of strategic importance to Moody’s including AI, Cyber and IP. We are seeking an attorney with the tools and motivation to help navigate exciting and cutting-edge technology legal issues. The position will be based in Charlotte, with a hybrid work environment. Other Moody’s locations will be considered.

Skills and Competencies:
* At least three years of relevant experience at a leading law firm is preferred. Candidates with similar in-house experience focusing on complex technologies will be considered.
* Strong technical skill with a demonstrable interest in emerging technologies. Law firm experience specifically advising on emerging regulations in AI is preferred.
* Highly motivated and intellectually curious, with a willingness to learn and adapt as team and individual roles evolve.

Education:
J.D. from an accredited law school, strong academic credentials, and admission to at least one state bar association. A STEM undergraduate degree is preferred.

Responsibilities:
* Participate in all facets of legal’s role in AI Governance including interpreting law and advising the business on legal matters relating to AI
* Keep apprised of new AI laws and regulations in all jurisdictions where Moody’s conducts business and advising on impact to lines of business
* Assist in building comprehensive responsible AI program consistent with EU AI Act and other relevant laws
* Work with risk, compliance, information security, and other stakeholders in conducting and documenting AI Governance efforts
* Serve as subject matter expert for customer and vendor negotiations involving AI capabilities
* Support team in providing subject matter expertise on legal aspects of Cyber including advising on cyber regulations and supporting incident response efforts.
* Assist team with handling wide variety of IP issues including patents, trademarks, copyright and trade secret protections
* Advise on other emergent and complex technology law issues including DeFi initiatives.

About the team:
The AI & Digital Rights team sits within Moody’s Legal Department supporting all functions, lines of business and 100% and majority-owned affiliates of Moody’s Corporation, including Moody’s Ratings, Moody’s Analytics and Moody’s Shared Services.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $117,200-$170,000, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
