Skills and Competencies

Moody’s is seeking an Associate / Compliance & Regulatory Affairs to support Moody’s Local rating businesses in El Salvador and other jurisdictions in Latin America to be determined. This position will be part of Moody’s Local Compliance & Regulatory Affairs team within the Global Compliance Department and will report directly to the Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Officer for Moody’s Local Central America in El Salvador.

  • Spanish level: Fluent.
  • English level: Advanced (desirable).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar positions within the financial industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory analysis, problem-solving ability, written and assertive communication skills, group leadership.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal Sciences or related fields. Additionally, the candidate must have Certification in prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and the financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
  • Extensive knowledge in prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and the financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and financial topics.

Responsibilities

  • Act as designated primary or deputy compliance officer for AML/CFT/CPF matters for Moody’s Local in El Salvador and other jurisdictions to be determined.
  • Create and propose changes to manuals, policies, procedures, and internal controls related to AML/CFT/CPF.
  • Identify and analyze reports of unusual and suspicious transactions, reporting to the competent authority when applicable, according to the rules and deadlines established by law, and prepare and maintain the respective electronic or physical files.
  • Review customer and counterpart (supplier) files in accordance with applicable internal policies.
  • Identify, assess, and report regulated transactions required in accordance with the current and applicable regulations of the corresponding country.
  • Ensure the screening of customers and counterparts (suppliers) against watch lists in accordance with the current and applicable regulations of the corresponding country.
  • Provide training to all employees on AML/CFT/CPF topics.
  • Prepare answers to regulators’ requests.
  • Prepare reports on the results of the activities carried out by the compliance team with respect to AML/CFT/CPF.
  • Propose the implementation of IT tools for the control and monitoring of transactions carried out by the entity’s customers and counterparts.
  • Issue reports or opinions on the existence of AML/CFT/CPF risks.
  • Prepare the entity’s annual activities and training plan on AML/CFT/CPF.
  • Support the Moody’s Local Compliance and Regulatory Affairs team as needed on regulatory compliance and regulatory affairs in various jurisdictions in Latin America to be determined.

About the team

The main objective of this role is to support the person responsible for Moody’s Local compliance with obligations related to the prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and the financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (hereinafter "AML/CFT/CPF") for El Salvador and other jurisdictions in Latin America to be determined. Additionally, this position will support the team as needed in identifying and managing regulatory and reputational risks, and in identifying regulatory opportunities, including the development of regulatory compliance applicable to rating agencies in the region.
The position will be based in El Salvador, with a hybrid work model. The offices are located at the following address: Edificio Insigne - 10th Floor, local 10-07, San Salvador, El Salvador.
This is a part-time position, with an indefinite term of contract. The working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Occasional availability outside working hours is required to collaborate on specific projects or attend important entity events.
