We are hiring an Assistant Vice President - Data Management to design, develop and implement data improvement initiatives across the organization. They will work closely with cross-functional teams and senior data managers that adopt Agile operating methods. They will develop and define data elements and data concepts for end-users, rationalise database content and support data migration into a modern, cloud-based data infrastructure and establish a data storage plan. They will be a change agent for multi-year initiatives to transform Ratings and Research’s (R&R) work processes to support digitization and adoption of generative AI technologies. These include the full range of workflow, rating and research, ESG and other activities. They will create and implement a robust Data Migration plan to support the multi-year initiative. These initiatives are directly tied to firm-wide objectives and would involve regular exposure to senior leaders around the business and technology improvements.
The AVP - Data Management role will define, manage and govern the data used across several product workflows, acting with support from senior data team members. Core accountabilities include:
* Investigate, define and continuously improve data taxonomies and data attributes for key workflow data sets to support digital solutions
* Lead UAT efforts to support the new Digital Ratings Platform (DRP) platform
* Partner with technology, data, and process teams to develop next generation data structure plan including data requirement gathering, supporting data migration activities and establishing data governance practices.
* Identify and assess a new and/or third party data source for use within a business workflow
* Engage across key MIS partners to determine the data required to migrate data to the target state service solution, and map the end-to-end data lineage
* Identify, normalize, standardize, clean, validate and migrate data elements from legacy databases to modern data infrastructure
* Create, Oversee, and Implement a robust migration plan to support Data migration based strategic scope
* Design and monitor key performance indicators related to key data processes and data quality, and monitor and report on observed process performance including to suggest data improvements
* Establish a rigorous and consistent framework to govern data changes and align this approach with partner teams for Change Management efforts
* Challenge the status quo and provide an innovative way of thinking for out-of-the-box data solutions, data performance metrics and new or third-party data sources
* Be the key point of contact for relevant databases for reporting and data analysis
* Work in Agile pods to define business data requirements for digital technology solutions, identify any opportunities to improve and re-develop technology solutions with Product Owners
* Implement a Data service model to support Internal Team requests for reporting request out of Legacy system. Proficient in SQL required
Qualifications:
* 7+ years of demonstrable experience in data management and data transformation roles
* Hands-on experience using Master Data Management and Data Governance tools such as SQL (required), dBeaver, Access, Collibra, Confluence, Jira
* Proficient in Agile methodologies
* Demonstrated experience curating, rationalizing and synthesizing a large database, bringing order and rigor to unstructured data environments and enhancing accuracy
* Demonstrated experience to redesign and improve data content and data lineages on aspects of an enterprise level project
* Communicated to senior management frequently, including to simplify complex themes and present recommendations for consideration
* Professional data management qualifications (degree, diploma, certificate, etc.) and process certification (i.e., Yellow/Greenbelt) are pluses
* Experience synthesizing customer and/or user views into critical requirements that were successfully embedded in process flows or digital applications
* Highly proficient communication skills to simplify complex themes and present recommendations to leadership
* Ability to influence, navigate ambiguity and drive consensus to achieve objectives
