Description

The AVP-Analyst will be the lead analyst for a portfolio of insurance companies. In this role, the AVP will evaluate the credit risk of these entities and the environment in which they operate. Responsibilities will also include managing issuer relationships at the "C-suite" executive level, writing timely, thought provoking research on individual issuers as well as the industry, and interacting with investors and intermediaries. An ability to confidently engage with internal and external parties is therefore a prerequisite for this role. The AVP work collaborate closely with colleagues in Moody's offices globally as needed in addition to the New York office.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data for assigned companies and bringing these credits to rating committee on a timely basis.
  • Presenting credits effectively and comprehensively in rating committees and other internal analytical meetings, as well as actively participating in rating committees led by other analysts.
  • Conducting credit research and writing credit opinions; special comments; short, timely pieces on relevant industry/issuer developments; and other research as advised or approved by management.
  • Interacting with senior company executives, investors, intermediaries and press/media.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with investors, issuers, and other market participants.
  • Mentoring junior staff on the US insurance team.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have strong financial analysis and communication skills, and be effective at handling commitments given varied responsibilities and a fluid environment. They will preferably have a professional actuarial designation, or have earned an MBA in finance or be a CPA of CFA, and will also preferably have 7-10 years of equity or credit analysis experience, with a strong solid understanding of the insurance sector. Other relevant experience includes working at an insurance or reinsurance company or at a firm servicing the insurance sector such as an insurance asset manager or consulting firm. The candidate should also possess sufficient expertise to become the team's subject matter authority in certain insurance products, regulations, reinsurance, investments, capital models, ERM and other relevant area(s) critical to credit analysis and responding to investor questions.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is [[$160,100 - [[$232,100, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
