Skills and Competencies

  • Substantial credit and risk assessment experience gained within a financial institution, asset manager, public accounting firm, or equivalent, required to deliver accurate and timely credit opinions
  • Deep understanding of Middle East banking and non‑bank financial institution credit markets, including regulatory and operating environments, required for informed credit analysis
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and assess credit risk drivers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present clearly at rating committees and engage credibly with senior stakeholders
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work independently in a high‑profile environment
  • Fluency in English required; Arabic or French preferred
  • Willingness to travel across the EMEA region
  • Curiosity and working knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts, with interest in applying AI tools responsibly to improve analytical efficiency and processes

Education

  • Strong academic background at least equivalent to MSc/MBA in relevant areas CIMA /ACCA/CFA professional qualification would be highly beneficial

Responsibilities

Provide high‑quality credit analysis and thought leadership on banks and non‑bank financial institutions in the Middle East to support accurate ratings and investor confidence.

  • Develop and maintain in‑depth knowledge of assigned banks and financial systems, acting as a subject matter expert for the region
  • Perform comprehensive fundamental credit analysis and present findings effectively at rating committees with a high degree of autonomy
  • Write high‑quality, insightful research on credit trends, individual issuers, and banking systems, contributing to Moody’s analytical leadership
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with senior management at rated financial institutions and engage effectively with investors
  • Respond to investor and issuer inquiries, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with published credit opinions
  • Enhance Moody’s franchise by participating in conferences, outreach activities, and other visibility initiatives across EMEA
  • Coach, review, and develop Ratings Associates, providing guidance on analysis quality and professional development

About the Team

The EMEA Banking team, part of the Financial Institutions Group, is responsible for providing independent credit ratings and research on banks and non‑bank financial institutions across the region. By joining the team, you will contribute to Moody’s global analytical excellence, support transparent financial markets, and engage with a diverse set of institutions across the Middle East and wider EMEA region.
