-Skills and Competencies
•    Min 5  years of experience working on liability valuations for UK Defined Benefit pension schemes
•    Numerate with the ability to follow complex calculations and processes, and carry out detailed analysis
•    Pragmatic approach to problem solving
•    Ability to work to demanding timescales whilst maintaining high standards
•    Willingness to innovate and challenge ideas
•    Strong customer focus
•    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate with teams from different backgrounds and levels of seniority
•    Experience in VBA and PFaroe DB is desirable but not essential
Education
•    BSc (or higher) in a mathematical subject
•    Part-qualified IFoA/IAI pension actuary
Responsibilities
The Assistant Director will help with delivering liability valuations, undertaking client facing activities and providing guidance to users on modelling in PFaroe DB. They will also work with the team to produce well considered solutions and to implement them in an efficient and effective way.
Key Responsibilities:
•    Running regular liability valuations and checking results for reasonableness
•    Quarterly and annual membership data manipulations and checking that changes are reasonable
•    Assisting clients with triennial valuations, accounting exercises and ad-hoc work
•    Checking junior colleagues’ work and discussing with senior colleagues
•    Training and mentoring junior colleagues and assisting with their development
•    Maintain and develop client relationships and responding to client queries
•    Developing bespoke solutions to client requirements
•    Assist with identifying and implementing automation of existing internal processes
•    Help customers with technical queries as and when required
•    Participate in client training
•    Testing new functionality in PFaroe DB
About the Team
Our Liability Servicing team is responsible for the delivery and servicing of liability valuations for some of the largest defined benefit pension schemes in the UK. The team consists of five members, with the wider Analytics Delivery team consisting of 18 in total. With over 4,400 pension schemes modelled and nearly $2.5tr of AUM, PFaroe DB is a market leading platform delivering a comprehensive suite of pension analytics covering valuations, funding level monitoring, what-if scenario testing, risk analysis, ALM and reporting.
