Skills and Competencies.

  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in visualizing data through graphics.
  • Strong understanding of Excel.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in Adobe tools (especially Illustrator).
  • Familiarity with design and best practices in data design reporting.
  • Numeracy and the ability to think statistically.
  • Understanding of corporate branding, layout, color, typography, and responsive design.
  • Comfortable working with complex data files containing multiple worksheets in Excel.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and SVGs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
  • Excellent organizational skills using Microsoft tools.
  • Good eye for detail as it is imperative for visualizations to accurately reflect data.
  • The candidate should possess the ability to think and work independently while participating in a team environment.

Preferred skills

  • Familiarity with Figma.
  • Familiarity with ai2html.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools including Datawrapper, RawGraphs, Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Experience working in a financial environment is a plus. Work knowledge and interest in finance and economics fields is a big plus.

Education

  • Portfolio / design samples required to apply to the role.
  • A degree in Graphic/Visual Design, Computer Graphics, Visual Communication, Fine/Studio Art, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Create, charts, graphics, diagrams, and maps, i.e., Information graphics that clearly illustrate financial data and analytical concepts.
  • Create graphics following Moody’s branding and style guidelines.
  • Work closely with team members and senior information design experts.
  • Monitor pipeline of graphic requests from financial analysts and research writers to ensure timely responses and equitable distribution of work.
  • Recommend improvements in design procedures and technology as continuous improvement is core to the team’s ethos.
  • Maintain competence in design software packages and associated technologies.

The Research group within Moody’s Ratings is looking for a dedicated, skilled designer to create high-quality digital graphics that enhance our market-leading research. The successful candidate will work with financial analysts and research writers to create compelling information design through data visualization. These graphics are essential for communicating our key credit messages to the global financial market. The Moody’s Research Graphics team is a collaborative group of professionals enthusiastic about producing quality Information graphics.
