Overview of the Role
In this role you will engage in research to critically assess a wide array of advanced corporate risk models and other products for major banks and regulatory authorities/institutions globally. Being a part of truly global Moody’s team, data scientist and risk modelers have an opportunity to contribute to diverse projects in every phase, including data analysis, methodology design, model development and enhancement, documentation writing, results delivery and interpretation. We are looking for collaborative, highly motivated individuals with strong quantitative and communication skills, willing learn and develop in a very dynamic and multicultural environment.
The Role / Responsibilities:
- Perform critical assessments of a variety of corporate risk models, scrutinize model adequacy and possible limitations, assess unaccounted risks, and construct challenger models.
- Communicate ongoing model assessment results to key model stakeholders.
- Help generate detailed and comprehensive validation reports, review your insights with peers in validation, supervisors, model developers.
- Carry out ad-hoc analyses to meet immediate business requirements.
- Create, enhance/refine and maintain tools aimed at automating the validation workflows.
- Prepare presentations and participate in knowledge sharing for the company’s internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Essential qualifications include a Masters or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or Data Science.
- Expected to have a strong foundation in quantitative modelling and econometrics, with risk modelling, validation, or audit experience being an advantage.
- A successful candidate must be proficient in English.
- Proficiency in R (preferred), Python, and/or SQL.
- Should have experience with collaborative tools like GitHub and handling extensive datasets from different sources and formats.
- Capable of explaining complex technical details to non-experts in a clear manner.
- Detail-focused, analytically curious, and skilled in problem-solving.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and social skills are necessary.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team in dynamic settings.
- Being open to learning, embracing new challenges, and adapting to evolving business requirements is crucial.
