The Role / Responsibilities:
The Associate Director - Client Relationship Actuary role requires an ambitious and driven individual to provide support and guidance to both potential and existing clients in the use and implementation of AXIS actuarial software. This involves hands on management of existing client companies including understanding their detailed needs to guide their implementation of AXIS, recommend best practice modeling approaches, and to coordinate implementation of AXIS enhancements with AXIS developers. In addition, they will work along-side Insurance Product Specialists to understand potential client needs, provide detailed demonstrations of AXIS, and support trials of AXIS prior to sale. The Client Relationship Actuary will also play a central role in helping the Product Specialists to service existing clients, both to retain existing revenue and to grow the revenue by seeking new AXIS upsell opportunities and cross-sell opportunities of other Moody’s Insurance products.
Responsibilities:
New Client Onboarding Support
Coordinate with new AXIS clients to understand implementation plans, associated AXIS training and development requirements, and required timeframes.
Investigate and analyze client requirements and provide best practice implementation guidance and other direction as required.
Liaise with the AXIS client support, development and operation teams to coordinate training, user requested enhancements to AXIS and contract related issues.
Communicate regularly with clients to keep them informed of the status of any investigations and/or enhancements.
Document all contact with clients, problems and resolutions in Job/IR discussions.
Direct clients to existing explanatory material (e.g. KB’s, Help text, reconciliation spreadsheets) and create additional explanatory material where needed to answer client inquiry.
Provide training and support in AXIS as required.
Participate in pre-sales and marketing activities
Support initial needs analysis meetings with potential new clients to evaluate requirements.
Provide detailed demonstrations of AXIS based on prospective client needs.
Provide guidance, training, and support through prospective clients trials including development of custom AXIS models based on client requirements.
This may include traveling to provide demos or training to clients on-site.
Attend industry and other client meetings to develop relationships with prospective client companies and to promote AXIS and other Moody’s solutions where appropriate.
Relationship Manager/Client Coordinator
Serve as a permanent Liaison with specific clients.
Arrange periodic client meetings to review client requirements/requests to ensure client is being well served.
Provide periodic information to management on status of client, including any existing or possible problems which need to be addressed.
Coordinate with Product Specialists around AXIS expansion and cross-selling opportunities.
Help develop business specifications for new features required by onboarding clients
After a new feature is deemed to be required, serve as liaison between AXIS team and client.
Determine client importance and urgency with respect to delivery of feature.
Ensure that AXIS team understands the client’s business issues and that the feature to be delivered covers the requirements.
Work with developers to prepare business specification documents.
Send specifications to client for approval.
Manage small team of other AXIS Client Support Actuaries (optional)
Other Responsibilities:
Lead & participate in Interest Groups & Working Groups for your areas of interest or expertise
May include researching various industry topics and conveying the information internally.
Providing information to employees for various purposes either on an Ad-hoc or formal basis.
"Project" Work
Develop/update formal training material as needed.
Develop explanatory articles/spreadsheets for topics as needed.
Develop/expand Sample data for delivery with the software.
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
Significant AXIS product and implementation knowledge
Strong understanding of life insurance and annuity products, regulatory requirements (particularly with Long Duration Targeted Improvements and Principles Based Reserves), ALM, and management strategies
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with teams from different backgrounds and levels.
Strong presentation skills.
Confidence in group situations.
Pragmatic approach to problem solving.
Adept at building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of people.
Ability to travel to client sites and/or provide remote training as required.
Required Experience:
At least 5 years of actuarial experience
Minimum 3 years work experience using the AXIS Actuarial System, at Moody’s or elsewhere. Preference given to individuals with knowledge in multiple AXIS modules, extensive Long Duration Targeted Improvements or Principles Based Reserves experience, and with previous AXIS client support experience.
Advanced technical experience in building and maintaining complex actuarial models.
A successful track record in execution of projects in a consultancy or in a company.
Required Education:
Society of Actuaries FSA designation or equivalent strongly preferred
