Role: (JOB SUMMARY)


The analyst will lead a portfolio of corporate ratings for Moody’s corporate finance group in South and Southeast Asia. The role includes performing detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate and monitor credit quality of companies and debt instruments to support rating accuracy, managing relationships internally and with external parties including senior personnel, and authoring in-depth research on companies and industry-wide trends. Additionally, the analyst will engage in outreach efforts on a regional scale.

Responsibilities:

Analytics/Monitoring
* Function as the primary analyst responsible for credit analysis of a specific portfolio of corporate entities in South and Southeast Asia.
* Perform a detailed quantitative review of financial reports and economic or market data, coupled with thorough evaluation of bond documents, liquidity agreements, and other pertinent legal agreements.
* Constantly monitor portfolio, proposing rating transitions when necessary in a timely manner.
* Develop a cogent rating rationale and effectively present this in rating committee meetings, leading the discussion.
* Exhibit discernment in rating decisions through the capacity to differentiate between corporates across rating levels.

Research
* Produce timely and insightful research reports on companies and industry sectors. Balancing research responsibilities alongside portfolio monitoring is vital to the role.
* Strong writing skills with the ability to explain complex concepts as clearly and understandably, and an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter

Issuer/Investor Relations
* Lead issuer meetings, presenting rating considerations effectively and asking incisive questions that encourage in-depth conversation on key credit issues.
* Establish and maintain relationships with corporate executives, investors and intermediaries, engaging regularly based on sector-specific and relevant research produced.
* Enhance Moody's brand presence through engagement with investors and conduct outreach that may include media appearances and contributing at conferences.
Communications
* Effectively present credit analysis in rating committees and other internal discussion forums.
* Mentor and help grow junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Graduate in finance, banking, economics or related discipline with postgraduate qualifications strongly desired. CIMA/ACCA/CFA professional qualification would be highly beneficial.
  • A minimum of 5 or more years of relevant analytical experience preferably with a financial institution, predominantly in a credit role.
  • Well-developed analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication capabilities. Previous experience writing research would be advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities within deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, learning environment.
  • Strong abilities in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
