Education

  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, statistics, applied mathematics, financial engineering, or a related field with relevant work experience, or a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields with seven or more years of experience as a credit analyst.

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for leading the surveillance and credit analysis of U.S. RMBS transactions, producing high-quality research, and contributing to Moody’s thought leadership and analytical innovation.

  • Act as lead analyst for surveillance of U.S. RMBS transactions, analyzing credit and legal risks and formulating rating recommendations.
  • Perform cash flow modeling and detailed analysis of transaction structures, collateral performance, and legal documentation.
  • Lead rating committees and present clear, well-supported views on transaction credit risk.
  • Produce publishable research, including transaction reports, sector commentary, and in-depth analytical pieces.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including issuers, arrangers, investors, and other market participants.
  • Participate in issuer and investor meetings, operational reviews, and industry conferences, representing the RMBS surveillance team.
  • Contribute to analytical, operational, and digital enablement initiatives, including projects involving GenAI and other emerging technologies.
  • Support the RMBS new ratings team as needed.
  • Mentor and support the development of less experienced analysts.

About the Team

The U.S. Consumer RMBS Surveillance Team within Moody’s Structured Finance group is responsible for monitoring all active U.S. RMBS ratings. The team delivers timely, high-quality research on market developments and emerging risks, contributes to industry dialogue through conferences and investor and issuer engagement, and plays a key role in advancing analytical excellence and thought leadership across the structured finance market.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $163,300.00 -  $236,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
